March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Exciting News

by Jewel

Last Tuesday was the second-to-last Kaiser Lake Day, and we had a pretty good turnout. We kids had a lot of fun on this giant tube Beth lets us use.

Dan&Anne got here at about seven o'clock then Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, Kate had Cason and Clay with us down at the lake again, and Sarah had Kruz.

Since Dan&Anne were at the elder conference, we had Amber with us Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, which was a lot of fun.

On Thursday, we did an Escape Room at the Morton Library, and Kinsey went with us as well. We didn't quite make it, but it was a lot harder than last year; and the lady told us only a few parties had made it in the allowed 45 minutes.

It was still a lot of fun though.

Then, down at the lake there were two little racoons!

We had the Keevers over that day as well, and Kinsey was still with us too.

Josh wasn't there though because he was with U. Mike, A. Joyce, Isaiah, and Elijah at a Lego display at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.

*thanks A. Joyce for the px!*

Amber was glad to see her parental unit Thursday night.

That night we camped out in the tent in the back yard. It was a lot of fun. Friday after tent cleanup we went down to the lake again. Echo, Kiowa, and Flint, and A. Sarah came too.

That evening Levi&Echo and Jesse&Lucy came over, and Katie had the Sauder kids and Miles here too.

After awhile Kate took the Sauder/Rockes home and Josh started a fire. We all sat around it for awhile and some of us did a few bottle rockets. Flint looks pretty mesmerized.

And then Jesse and Lucy had some very exciting news for us!!

We're so happy for you Jesse and Lucy!
