March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

More Super Hot Week

 by Sarah

A couple Fridays ago, Suzanne and Melody came down to the lake. The kids all loved it!

That night was Father/Son Night, so we had Jenna, Suzanne, and Jamie over. It was an all-girls night except for Auggie and Wyatt. Ella was very much in love with Auggie,

and everybody was in love with the puppies.

TMB played at Father/Son Night, and Mom got to go to the concert because she's a mom to some of the performers. Dale then joined them for a few songs also.

Saturday we helped Jesse and Lucy move to their new house in Tremont.

There were a lot of random boxes that needed to be moved to the house.

There were a few items that were a bit tricky to get into the house, but thanks to muscle and ingenuity, it all got inside safely.

Later Saturday afternoon, we went down to the lake for awhile. And Josh caught himself a new snake.

And Beth had this super big tube down there that she let us use. It was really fun!

Thanks Beth for letting us use your lake!!

Super Hot Week

by Jewel

This was Sunday after we got home from KWA.

We were glad to see the pups were okay despite the heat and were as cute as ever.

A brief rain shower made for a lazy evening.

We spent Monday morning doing applesauce,

and then headed for Morton and dropped off a birthday gift for Flint who is one already!

It was a great day down at the lake, and Sarah and Beth  were there with Ben and Olivia.

Monday night was TMB practice, so that's why Lacy is in the pictures below, and then Levi and Echo swung by too. Flint received several more gifts, including the collie statue.

Tuesday night we and Marv and Paula's worked at Jesse and Lucy's new house painting trim, washing windows, cleaning, etc.

On Wednesday, the Sauder boys came over as usual. Clay decided he liked cucumbers so he was just eating away! He also ate celery sticks and cilantro.

It was so hot all week that in the afternoons we put frozen water bottles in pillowcases for the pups to lay on. On the hottest days we brought them inside some too.

Good pals.

Tired puppies on Wednesday

 and Thursday.

They liked their water bottles a lot.

KWA 2019 - Part 2

by Sarah

Random hiking pics from the weekend.

Levi and Echo came on Saturday morning. Kiowa loved to hike.

Throughout the weekend there were several different puzzles going on.

The lobby was kind of the gathering place. That's where we would hang out to play games, do puzzles, talk, and just chill out.

After supper on Saturday night, Jake and Uncle Mike led us in a few songs.

After the guys and kids had split, then the girls had a baby shower for Lucas and Chelsea.

This puzzle was the hardest puzzle of the weekend, but by the time we left it was done.

There was a gaming room in the basement that some of us bummed around in for a while.

We had also brought Bags from home which got used a lot over the weekend.

A group returning from a hike.

Thanks so much Grandpa and Grandma for another awesome weekend!

Levi and Echo were getting ready to head home on Saturday night when their minivan started acting up. So they switched vehicles with Tori, packed all of their stuff into Tori's car, and took that home. On Sunday then, Tori, Jake, Kate, and Ben took the minivan home. Fortunately they got it home without problems.

And of course a few rounds of Canadian Salad.

Aunt Marcia's cotton candy machine was a hit.

Of course we had a large game of Dutch Blitz.

Sunday morning we gathered into our rented dining room for church. Uncle Jerry did a brief talk about the men's prayer meeting in Tremont, then Tim had a devotional.

Then Alissa led us in doing a round of the songs "I'm Gonna Sing," "When the Saints Go Marching In," and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot." It sounded pretty cool.

It was a great weekend. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma!!
