Saturday we gave Dad his Fathers Day gift. Since Dad is hard to shop for, his gift was a family work day. Levi's and Jesse's came over and we just worked down the list of jobs that Dad has been wanting done.
First thing, Jacob started putting together the new backboard for our basketball hoop.
Tori and I cleaned out the patio at the start of the day so that later on after it dried we could seal it.
Jesse, Lucy, and Josh worked on fixing the mail box. It was very rickety and looked as if it could fall over anytime, which was probably due to it getting hit too many times by four-wheelers, mowers, tractors, etc.
And since Jacob keeps his work van at home, he and Levi used the ladders to fix numerous swings around the place.
One of the swing projects.
Ben reseeding grass beside our house.
And we have a finished product!
It turns out that the paint at the back of the house is so faded that when Kate brushed up on a few spots that needed more paint, then we suddenly had a two-toned house. Of course a lot of people had to inspect it.
Looks like someone's up on one of Jacob's work ladders.
Flint was a happy camper all day. Of course who wouldn't be happy in his situation. He's rocking the jams, he's outside, there's lots of action to watch, and there's lots of people to goo at him and give him attention.
And we have one of the swings fixed!
Kate brushing up the paint job on the door. You can tell which paint is old and which is new. The top two panels of siding beside the door are old, and the six below it are new.
Time for some fun too.
Kiowa helped take trash to the barn.
We've got a happy camper!
And another happy camper!
More reseeding where the calf huts had been.
And another swing project.
And yet another swing project!
Of course when you're working hard ya gotta have some snack too!
Break time.
Wood shed repair.
Bushes planted and mulch laid.
This job didn't get finished. Gotta leave something for next time.
Sealing the patio while Katie bums in the background :)
My turn to bum while she works.
Brandi is always gentle with Kiowa who really likes her.
??
Some gardening too.
More time for fun.
Don't ask me how it came up, but we were trying to figure out how much Flint weighed. First of all, several people had to do the weight test to try and estimate how much he weighed.
And then we weighed Ben alone.
And then we weighed Ben holding Flint, and did the math to figure out how much Flint weighed. Katy's guess of 21 pounds was the closest guess. He weighed 22 pounds.
Aww snuggly little baby loves his daddy best!
But he's usually happy with his aunts and uncles too.
Some more painting.
We got the canoe and the kayaks out of the haymow, and after spraying them off, we took them down to the lake.
Dad and some of the boys cut up wood at Dave's and brought back the logs.
Josh got the important job of lowering the dump trailer.
We had borrowed Uncle Jerry's skid steer, so the guys worked on hauling manure most of the afternoon. We girls and Flint got to watch.
They were hauling the manure out of the red shed, which is where the cows hung out most of the winter. There was so much manure, which is why we got the skid steer. Inside the shed it was almost a foot of complete slop.
And the girls are done! Which means it's relax-in-the-sun time!
This is the whole list of jobs that we did! And most of the jobs are now done!
