March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

St. Louis

by Jewel

Saturday we got up early and went to St. Louis. We went to the St. Louis Zoo first which was followed by Union Sation, Ballpark Village, and the Arch.

One of the sea lions at the zoo would follow Jacob’s hand and so if Jacob would swipe in one direction, he’d do a flip in that direction and come back, his eyes glued to Jake’s hand.

There was an arch through the sea lion’s pen which was neat.

The Asian elephants were pretty neat.

We were watching the jaguar, I believe.

We had lunch on the lawn in front of the Union Station. We found out all the Union Station shops were closed (except Subway) and it was going to be made into a hotel and an aquarium.

We peeked into Busch Stadium and hunted down the Fudgery at Ball Park Village, and then we headed to the Arch. The ride to the top was closed, but we enjoyed watching the movie on how it was built and going through the gift shop.

We went to the old courthouse which, if I recall, had five layers, two which were not open to the public.

This was a picture from the courthouse steps.

We got home about 7:30, where we scattered to do chores and unpack lunch from the trip. We had a great time and I hope we do it again sometime.
