March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Farewell October

Sunday evening -

Grace and Kate were not doing a stupid selfie. They were playing with a camera face filter that was making them look like puppies. Wierd technology but obviuosly they were having fun with it!

Monday afternoon – another 75 or so degree day. Gorgeous.

A fireburner Bibletime isn’t complete without Frank and Joe the cats.

And thus ends October!

Routine Week

…which is always a good thing. There were a few appointments thrown in here and there, and I think I was chasing hither and yon on three of the five days; but hey that’s part of it right?

Today is sunny and 80* predicted so it’s time to get this published and off the list so I can go do something important like play with the kittens. Kate agreed to jot a few thoughts about the week while I was grading a paper; I added a few comments too in italics. Thanks Kate!

Monday – Josh and I hauled gluten from across the road one afternoon. Josh is a little trooper and carried his bucket all the way to the shed with only a few rests. Yes. A bucket of gluten is VERY heavy.

Tuesday morning bright and early brought this lil visitor. We just can’t get enough of these little guys! Henry was soooooo intent on getting his machines loaded on the semi.

I thought the BaerCub fan club was as cute as the Cub himself!

These kittens have been in high demand lately. They’re probably the cutest kittens we have had in years.

Friday lunch brought some visitors. U. Jeff was in town so he, along with a few others, joined us for awhile.

Enjoying the gorgous weather……

A crazy squirrel felt the need to move into our yard. It has provided Rascal maaaany hours of entertainment sitting watching it. And some of us enjoy watching Rascal watch the squirrel!

Levi and Echo took an extra bed to their house……and the truck wasn’t around today to haul the mattresses but hey this works I guess. Echo drove and Levi held the stuff in.

Blue Sky Weekend

So this was Friday, which is considered the weekend around here. I was taking Josh out to ride in the tractor with a buddy of his and the day was. just. beautiful.

Saturday morning was travel for three oldest kids, kitchen work for girls, and outside jobs for Dad and the boys.

IMG_0262

With plenty of afternoon time for kittens – I think this is Drover. His siblings are Dusty and Donovan; I have yet to get good pictures but these are the cutest and healthiest kittens we’ve had in a long time. They don’t lack for attention.

IMG_0265

Saturday evening we had a few precious Aberles. Bristol was so cute staring down the calves, but I missed the picture. They won the staredown.

IMG_0266

Not sure why our kids like to wear bomber caps in the house.

IMG_0267

Sunday was another beautiful day. After a sweet day of worship and fellowship at church, we came home & got ready for our last wiener roast of the year with a bunch of Steiners.

Good times!

Boys went north to a wedding in Morris, and Tori headed south to the Tennessee Fellowship Weekend in Athens. No px of the boys but here’s a few from Tori; they did a little hiking on the way down and found this gorgeous lake.
