7-30-15 Weekend

Friday afternoon ASK took the kids to Dave’s pond to see the new sand that was dumped on the beach.

Neighbors brought straw that evening.

Friday night was beautiful for a fire, pancakes and all.

Drill + whisk = fun.

Pancakes didn’t turn out so well, so we had a few marshmallows for snack instead.

Saturday morning sweet corn time!

Barn painter and Corey added to the action.

Glad for Erika’s help in cutting. And cutting. And cutting. My requested 5 bushels turned out 73 quarts. Hmm. That’s funny math.

But no complaints here! It was beautiful corn (to the kids’ disappointment, only one worm in all those ears). Sweet & delicious. Many many thanks, U. Randy!

The young group hosted a very blessed Invite-A-Friend weekend, so we had a houseful of young people Saturday night. Sunday morning, by special request, the kids sang a song after breakfast.

Oh my these young people can sing, and I’m so thankful they do. Good thing the roof was raised, because if it wasn’t it would’ve been. What an encouragement to praise God with heart and voice and to see the youth of our church value and embrace this precious heritage they’ve been given.

After a blessed day of worship at church, which included more wonderfully inspiring singing, the young people sang for the residents at Chestnut Place; they finished up their weekend with a meal at the fellowship hall.

Back home again, the music continued.

7-29-15 Last Thursday

When you’re holding Big Boy and he gets mad, well, just ask Jacob what happens. And if you’re feeling really brave, just ask Erika what happens when Jacob gets bit by a snake and you’re standing too close.

A beautiful evening for fishing.

Well when you take a picture clear across the lake, it just might be a little blurry!

The one and only picture of this year’s sad peach crop. There are a lot of them but they are knarly, knobby, buggy, wormy, and just all-around bad. We’re blaming the weather, assuming the rain washed off the sprays time and time again at crucial times.

Certainly makes peaches off the tree an exciting event. Surprise critters in residence, y’know?!

7-25-15 Zoo & Cats

I haven’t emptied the kids’ camera for awhile and decided to post a few of their Very Important Pictures.

First up – Silver. Obviously somebody’s favorite.

The zoo also has a museum section. Many interesting items on display.

Hmm. This has carpet so it’s not in the zoo. This is in the basement; looks like some younger siblings are admiring their collection.

More cats. Obviously someone likes cats.

And I really like the pint-sized perspective; I suspect Josh was running the camera here.
