March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

6-21-14 Blistering

On Tuesday, Betty brought her children after lunch for a lake afternoon (while Kenna napped here with Tori) followed by piano lessons for Emily and Megan. Judging by all the smiles, this crew had a great time!

Tuesday night some creative minds found another way to beat the heat. This game is called “car wash.”

Wednesday morning, Alissa brought her girls for piano lessons; after lunch we headed to the lake for some swimming and boating. Until the thunder and lightening chased us home Sad smile. The storm slid by right north of us, but the sky was so ominous and beautiful as we raced home that we were all glad to be home regardless. At least Alissa and I were glad to be home. I don’t think the kids were too concerned, but they’re not supposed to be, so that’s ok!

And did I mention it was blistering hot at that point? Hot and humid. The corn loves it. Every evening I think it’s 6” taller than the day before. Amazing.

Someone likes these cats.
