2-1-12 Ice Hockey

Saturday night we had about 50 people to our house for the evening. We bought Papa Murphy’s Pizza which was very slick. After supper we played foosball and ping pong. The room where the foosball was was very loud!! Then we went into the boys’ room where all of the instruments were. We were plucking around on them but then of course all of the adults had to come down and we did a concert right then and there in the basement (actually we just played a few songs). By 8:15 we were all heading down to the ice skating rink in Pekin. When we all got on the ice everybody was hitting pucks around and it was very dangerous!! Then we got out the bumpers that separate the rink. The teams were made and the older boys played hockey the whole time! There were 3 teams so one team was always watching or skating. Marty was playing in the big game. Last time he was at our house he found an old suit of Dad’s that the kids dress up in and he put it on. This time he took it to the rink with him and put it on. The pants kept falling down as he skated. Then he crashed and he ripped the pants (in the crash). Then he took them off. He did not want to keep crashing. Somehow the jacket got ripped too. It was pretty funny. Then we got out another set of goals and we set up a calmer game with the younger kids. In the younger kid game, Jacob, Andy, Clayton, Ben, Garrett, Sarah, Jewel, Alexander, Justus, and I were playing. Nate played some but not the whole time. At the end Tori and Leah started playing. Sometimes Caleb and Dani came over and played with us. We were playing Caleb and Dani against everybody else! There were not enough on their team but they wanted to do it. Anywhere they hit the puck someone intersected it!!! I think they did get a couple of goals!! Our goalies were Sarah, Jewel, and Alexander. When the puck came near they would make a line across the front of the goal with the ends of their hockey sticks!!! And then Justus was the other goalie. Before the four little kids were playing we had to watch the goals but we managed just fine. At one point in the game we all were trying to get the puck from each other until 3 or 4 (can’t remember how many) of us were down on the ice. This was also before the little kids were playing so we probably did not have anybody watching the goals if somebody on the other team had gotten the puck. We were fighting over the puck and then we all slipped and fell down!! We all fell very smoothly. We just kind of slid to the floor and no one got hurt! We had several games started but we only finished one. Well we finished the game to five. (I think the other team won). So then our time was up and we had to start to pick up all of the bumpers. I think everybody had a great time. Well, I hope everybody had a nice time. It was very fun!!
