March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Saturday Part 4: More Pictures

 Lauren Zimmerman Photography

Saturday Part 3: Rehearsal Dinner

Rehearsal at Eureka church went fine; then we all headed to Encore for a delicious dinner.

Following dinner was a program celebrating Jacob & Natalie.

To begin the program, Ben showed an excellent video he created of Jacob & Natalie's lives; then he shared some memories and thoughts about them.

Grandpa & Grandma had a few words,

then Levi,

then Jesse,

then Tori,

then Kaitlyn,

then Wesley,

then Cade,

then Serena and Amelia,

then Tamra,

then Andrew,

and then Mike.

Our family sang a song for Jacob & Natalie,

then the groomsmen and ushers did as well.

Trent shared a few words,

Dad concluded the evening,

and then guests stuck around a little while visiting.

And then we all went home!

Saturday Part 2: Lunch

Dad & I dropped off kids at home, changed our clothes, and headed out to do a couple things at Encore yet. When we got back home it was about lunchtime; family trickled in for a very quick casual lunch with a crowd of Steiners.

I got a few "new" (thrift) books last week; amazing to me how quickly the grandkids find the new books.

Fun to get to know Josie again. Cute as a button and a ton of personality.

Her surprised face is adorable!

Sure wish they lived closer.

Saturday Part 1: Pictures

Saturday morning, December 18, found us snuggled in the van at Farmdale Reservoir, waiting patiently for our turn for pictures with Jacob & Natalie. It was pretty cool really cold outside, so this little crowd that normally would have been chomping to get outside was pretty happy to be in our van.

Our other crowd of littles eventually joined us too.

It was a misty moisty morning, and cloudy was the weather;
but hearts were happy, the van was warm,  and everyone worked well together.
Photographer Lauren was excellent.

Although I didn't get great px, the kids in the van were quite entertained. We're definitely looking forward to the professional px soon!

Kiowa was helpful during the sibling px - it was Dad & I and five littles for a few minutes there! They did well, and it wasn't long before we were all summoned for our family px.

All 19 of us were outside for our family px for maybe 15 minutes or so (maybe less?). Lauren really was good. She posed us, snapped away, and was done pretty quickly. Which was really good bc it was really cold.
And then we were done and headed home.
