March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Christmas 2020

Years ago we occasionally would fondue; for Christmas Eve this year we tried it again. A lot of work and a lot of mess but also a lot of fun and a lot of good food. Conclusion was to do it again - maybe next year...

This crew was so kind to test the oil - - -

We had our Christmas on Christmas Day after church. Kiowa got to help set the table.

Quick trip to sing to Grandma. It was really cold though so we didn't stay long.

Before we opened a few gifts, kids gave me the best gift of a bluegrass concert. It was excellent. I took videos but Idk where they went.

For the record -

This gift immediately shot to first - way better than the concert. Not even close 😍😍😍

😍

Lots of help getting a light supper ready.

Kiowa & Flint thought they were pretty cool at their little tables.

The evening ended with basement construction and then demolition projects.

Cute Kids & Christmas Cookies

Happy New Year and welcome back to the trail!
It's been a busy season and then a few weeks of catchup around here and now this is finally at the top of the list to catchup. So here we go.
All the way back to sometime in December. This was before Christmas because Josh did an excellent job putting together a couple wagons for Christmas presents for his niece/nephews.

Kiowa is so cute buzzing around on the hoverboard.

As is Flint.

Cutest helper everπŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’—

Another cutest.

Pretty sure this was a balmy December Sunday morning.

Yes. Because that night we hosted a singing and it was beautiful.

Ben's been practicing...

It's no secret that Kaitlyn loves to bake. She planned and organized a baking party here one day. Very fun and extremely delicious day. Everything turned out beautifully except for the buckeyes. When you accidentally double the powdered sugar... well, let's just say some of these ended up being chicken feed. More is definitely not always better.

These two weren't much help with the cookies, but they sure upped the cuteness factor quite a bit.

Lots of activity and jobs - - - jobs which I didn't have to manage! Kate kept things moving and kept everyone busy. I just did what I was told - - - and it was really nice.
