March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Harvest

Anya wasn't entirely sure about this puppy...

while Josh will miss all of them.

Monday was really cool and cloudy. It screamed soup. Chicken rice soup, to be specific.
It was delicious.

Tuesday afternoon walk. Gray but beautiful.

Evening walk with Dad.

Sarah riding Diamond.

Remembering FL.

Pups are goofy over new things - - - who knew a bucket was so fun?

And just like that *snap* it's October.

Ava never tires of puppies. I love her smile in these pictures.

More harvesting.

Thankful for a safe harvest so far.

Happy Birthday Grandpa

Grandpa celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday, September 26; but the big family celebration was held in conjunction with the annual Kaiser Wiener Roast the next day. It was really great to see so many here; we appreciate each one who made the effort to come and missed the ones who weren't able to make it (which wasn't many).
These pups got so much attention they didn't know what hit them. By the end of the evening they were so exhausted they hardly moved.

Puppy love has no age limits.

Trampoline got plenty of use all evening.

We sang happy birthday to Grandpa before we ate supper, and he had a few words of wisdom for us as well:
Do as you wish, but always tell the truth.

Beth took care of getting the cake ordered and delivered; her friend Jackie Gray did an excellent job.  Thanks so much Beth!

Jocie was smitten from the start.

I don't think she left the puppies to eat any supper๐Ÿ’›

Pups never lacked attention.

Hayrack ride was enjoyed by all.

Diamond made some new friends.

And a little frisbee...
oops.

Beautiful evening.
