March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Last Week

Playing on the monkey bars was a huge ‘thing’ for a few days. The three littles would literally spend a couple hours in the afternoon playing with their boards and strings they had rigged up.

Mom’s walking trail takes her through the pasture in front of our house……

and down the back lane……

and back home by way of the pond.

More monkey shenanigans.

And a post isn’t complete without a px of some kittens.

The four Sauder kids joined us for Friday afternoon and evening.  Lexi and Wes stayed the night…the boys camped out but only made it half the night and they ended up back down in the warm basement. Lexi had a campout girl style with Jewel and Sarah: hang out in the girls’ bedroom and play.

We took a walk out around the field and through the pasture and ended up down at the pond for snack.

So it looks like Live Writer is finally working again. But until I can figure out how to get pictures from my phone to my laptop, there will be no more posts. Any advice is appreciated; I have googled and tried stuff until I’m blue in the face and still can’t figure out what’s going on. Frustrating!

Glitches

My blog publishing program has not been working for me lately so once again I'm back to blogging right through blogger. Which historically hasn't worked very well but maybe there have been improvements so I'll give it a shot....

And after half an hour of messing with trying to get text between pictures, I've decided that indeed, blogger has not improved much. At least right now I don't have more time to mess with figuring it out anyway.

So - a few pictures from last week - nice days and then of course the hailstorm which had everyone excited. The picture of the hand with quarter-size hail was from Levi; we didn't have it quite that big but close to it! And since the storm there were more gorgeous blue sky days and a few tromps in the pasture and that's about all I have time for now since the timer just rang and the rolls are done baking!

Rodeo

Tuesday afternoon, Dad took a steer to the sale barn and had a lot of help moving another steer to the pasture across the road. Dumb bovine didn’t want to go.

Dumb thing busted out and headed back to his safe boring hut with its tiny pen. Next trip over wasn’t so fun.
