March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Pictures were at the fellowship hall before church; since it was really foggy and cool outside, we started inside. And since the lighting wasn’t that great for my camera, I only took a few photos, figuring the professional photographer would have much better px anyway. Stay tuned for those.

About the time we got dozens of pictures taken inside, and nicely ahead of schedule, the fog lifted, giving us a gorgeous morning! We hung around while the photographer scouted for the best spot…

Mr. & Mrs. Levi Kaiser!

These next dozens of pictures were taken (mostly) while I was in line meeting people. Some are from A. Jill’s camera, some are from A. Sarah’s camera, and some are from my camera; and various and sundry people had all three cameras, I think. Hence, the order might not be exact, but oh well. I hope you can sense the blessing and joy of the day anyway! I for one am so grateful for all these glimpses of the reception that I couldn’t see from my spot.

Thank you photographers!!

And - - - if you can find the two pictures that were taken at almost exactly the same moment in time, by two different people, from two different cameras, from two different angles, let me know. If you’re the first to tell me, you just might get a bag of m’n’ms Smile.

11-4-15 Rehearsal Dinner

We thoroughly enjoyed Levi & Echo’s long-awaited wedding weekend. It kicked off with rehearsal at church followed by a wonderful dinner and program with loved ones. Considering that there were 17 siblings in the wedding party, the youngest three being 7,6, and 3, rehearsal went very well! We were done in plenty good time to get to Morton for a delicious steak or chicken dinner.

That’s a lot of steak for such a little girl!

I didn’t get a picture of the table of our wonderful servers, because, well, they were busy serving us; which we appreciated so very much. Thanks so much, Sauders, for being a part of our special evening!

Brief break after dinner,

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

I babysat Anya Monday (October 26). This kiddo loves reading books and doing puzzles. Note the huge pile of books on the ground. We didn’t get through them all Smile.

Levi wasn’t feel overly well so he'd been sleeping a lot. Four days before your wedding is not the time to get sick.

P1090929

Last Wednesday the 28th, we babysat Jocelyn for a while. She is so cute.

P1090930

Thursday we went skating at the Pekin ice rink. We went during the open skate, but we had the whole thing almost to ourselves. There were only three other people on it but two left after about 25 minutes; so most of the time there was only one other person skating with us. It was great!!
