March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Thanksgiving Week

Monday 11.21

J&J went to Echo's as usual. I did laundry as usual. Also did some errands and lots of other stuff including rearranging the living room to make room for a Really Beautiful Piano that Dad found (and a crew and I tested) which will reside in our greatroom until Ben&Coreena have a place for it. Also Josh and I got to clean up this mess that this silly dog made.

Why would an animal destroy her bed, huh?

Beautiful day for a walk.

Loading this beautiful piano.

Grateful for a strong crew to help.

A cute audience is always helpful💗

No px of the new piano...yet. Stay tuned.
😁pun intended

Yesterday (Tuesday 11.22). A few littles enjoyed a beautiful 50d day.

When Echo came back from her chasing and she and Skye finished their lunch, we walked to the South Grove where great things were happening.

It's been dry, so the tile under the road is a nice dry tunnel for kids to explore.

Skye was studying Grams so cute while Echo got kids packed up and ready to go home. She's so alert and thankfully almost completely mended after her bout last week with RSV.

After Grams took the giblets home to cook up for turkey dressing (YUM), I did a ride with Jewel bc it was too beautiful to be inside. Plus I didn't want to do too much walking bc my ankle has been mysteriously swollen and sore. It's getting better with rest and ice but it's a little frustrating bc Idk what I did to aggravate it. I'm realizing I don't really like this aging thing much. Generally things don't improve with age and I am certainly no exception. Anyway was a beautiful day for a ride and Diamond didn't buck me off so that was good.

School this morning (Wednesday 11.23) and then a couple cutests came for awhile. They liked the new horse I found at a thrift store. I think I got my $1 out of it already!

Just A Few Things

 Littles on Thursday.

😏basement shenanigans😆

Friday night.

Sunday.

😄

So there's a peek at Just A Few Things going on here . . . in between the pictures has been Christmas shopping, Christmas card creating, Christmas card list updating, wedding invitation list creating, suit shopping (for Josh for BC wedding), piano shopping (for BC wedding gift), RD planning (for BC wedding), house cleaning (bc we're hosting a crowd for Thanksgiving), and the usual cooking cleaning laundry baking teaching and just generally trying to remember to find the joy in the journey that is there but sometimes gets lost in the busyness!!

Snowy Day

Monday morning 11.13.22 I stayed with three littles while Levi & Echo took a very sick little Skye to the ED. These three came home with me for awhile then.

It was super cold out so kids were happy inside. Puzzles were the thing.

When I took the kids home later for naps,

I got to rest with Skye while Levi went to work and everyone else had quiet time. She's pretty sweet.

Tuesday morning 11.14. Beautiful walk in the snow. It wasn't that cold and it was so very still. Px really don't look that pretty but it was.

These two enjoyed the snow then too.

They lasted about 15minutes and were happy to come inside then.
