March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Week In Review

Our week was a blink. Nothing spectacular happened, unless you count turning off the air conditioning a spectacular event. Which it actually kind of is since it was such a hot summer the AC ran almost non-stop for weeks on end and since September brought us just those few cool days and then BAM we were right back in the heat & humidity of summer - - - so yes. Turning off the AC was a noteworthy event. And so were walks with my sweatshirt and stretchpants AND winter coat. Zippy cold and crisp days in between a few gray rainy days too. Welcome, Fall. Thankful that God’s word says, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22)  Love that promise. Love this time of year. Thankful it’s here!

So – a few px of our week - - -

A special little visitor brightened one morning - - -

- - - was rainy much of the day, but it cleared off beautifully in time for a campfire supper. Well, not as in we cooked over the campfire (which we did cook dessert, I guess), but we ate supper beside the campfire. Was a perfect night for chili and monkey bread, although I think most of the kids agreed that the meal would’ve been just fine without the chili. Haha.

P1170238

And oh yes, the roaring fire did feel great!

P1170240

Favorite most friendly cat Joe.

P1170242

Loving soup season!!

P1170249

Yep that’s Joe again.

P1170254

Glad that Levi & Echo stopped in after harvest. No they weren’t sleeping; I guess the camera flash made them blink!

P1170265

And that’s it for our week. Much to be thankful for!!!

PS - - -

**I was going to insert a link to the monkey bread recipe but I realized I don’t have it posted so can’t link to it. Will try to remedy that in the near future. Stay tuned!

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Kaiser Wiener Roast

Well, with the high for the day forecast at 85* or so, the roaring fire part really wasn’t necessary, and we provided ice and pop instead of hot chocoate; nevertheless we enjoyed a crew of Kaisers on Sunday evening for the annual wiener roast. Thanks to everyone who came – we loved seeing so many again!
